Camp Electric
Think camp rock but with Jesus. Camp Electric is one week of controlled chaos. Concerts every night, jam sessions around every corner, and awesome friends who are all there to better themselves in order to use their gifts to worship God. What else could someone ask for on their week off for the summer? Yup my week off from working at camp I go to a camp, makes sense. At camp electric you get to learn from teachers who are all in the music industry. Last year one of my teachers was Tauren Wells, this year I had Hollyn as one of my teachers. The experience of Camp Electric is no other. No one teaches like they do. No one else offers up two weeks of their summer to teach teens like the musicians Camp Electric gets as instructors. Each summer there are at least two sessions of camp. There are camp traditions like the “Take your meds chant.” As well as at the end of each morning sermon the “One more verse” chant. Coming to camp electric was a dream I had for about three years before I was actually able to go. The friends I’ve met here are so awesome! One thing is I feel like God has told me he wants to use me as a musician or artist to help encourage people who are in pain. I don’t know exactly how, but I find at least for my God doesn’t always tell me exactly how to do the things he wants for me otherwise I would do the things without completely relying on him. I know God wants to use music as part of my life and career I just don’t know in what way yet. All I know is the doors that God has opened are ones that are still telling me to pursue music. Honestly the days when you fully allow yourself to completely worship God are the most beautiful. Camp Electric is not just about becoming a better guitar player or singer, it’s about worshipping God with the gifts he’s given you and not wasting them.
