If You Don’t Define Success You Are Guarantied Not To Get It
The other day I was in my music business class at Camp Electric. The teacher was talking about a lot of technical stuff that had to do with music business. It was a very interesting class. My dinner rotation cut into my free time though so I had to leave before the class was completely over. As I’m packing up my note book and pens, the teacher said something that really made me think. He said “If you don’t define success you are guarantied not to get it.” What does that mean? It’s simple it’s the same concept as, if you don’t know where you’re going it doesn’t matter which way you go. You have to decide what success is to you. Whether it’s like my friend who just wants to be a mom and homeschool her kids or be a musician and win a grammy award. If you don’t define success you won’t ever actually have something to work towards and you’ll never get there. Goals are really important they give you tangible things to strive towards. That are things that require steps in order to reach them. If don’t have goals you stay still sometimes even go back wards. You get lazy. When you make goals you are setting yourself up for success because you have made it clear that those things are things you want. It adds subconscious permission to yourself to achieve the goal. Basically like betting on yourself. You don’t have to know exactly what your game plan is to achieve the goal. You just have to write what you want i life down and start taking one step at a time in that direction. That’s why dream boards are so cool or writing down new years resolutions. If you did write down like new years goals from a year or two ago (besides loosing weight or something like that) go back and look at if you actually achieved them. The last time I did that I was extremely surprised at how manny I had actually achieved without even realizing it. But if I had never set the goal I would never have gotten the things I wanted done. So that’s why you need to define what success is to you.
