What Happened To The Dream?
I work closely with about 37 people out here at this summer camp and it’s given me the opportunity to learn a lot about them. I like people I like seeing what makes them who they are. I love hearing about their dreams and what they want to do with their lives. The places they want to go, who they want to be, all of it. But it always strikes me as strange and a bit sad when I come across someone who does have a dream. As in they gave up even trying to set goals or dreams to the point of just not even caring anymore. As I’ve mentioned before I started asking the people around me what they would want to do in 15 years if they could do anything. The last person I asked told me he didn’t know. But then he said had I asked him 2 or 3 years ago he would have said the top football coach in the NFL. I asked him what happened? He told me he “got a dose of reality.” I can’t help thinking what happened? What broke this person’s dream so much that he won’t even think about creating another one as big to him? It makes me sad, yes this person has flaws and yes in order for him to create a reality where his dream would come true he’d have to work really hard on himself and at his work. But you are given a dream for a reason. I think he sees it as prideful to have a big dream. To believe you are actually capable of reaching it. But here is the thing. Our dreams aren’t just stuff we make up. God is the one who gives us dreams to begin with. Just look at Joseph, and in Psalms 37:4 God tells us if we delight ourselves in the Lord he will give you the desires of your heart. So here is the thing God has put a dream in your heart maybe you don’t know what that dream is that dream is right now that’s okay. I encourage you to pray and ask God to show you the plans he has for you. If your dream is from God, which I’ve found most dreams where people say “this might sound crazy but…” are. Then who are you to stand in tbe way of God and his plans? I’d even go as far as to say that’s rather selfish. Especially if by reaching that dream you’d be in a position to be able to help others. Don’t give up on your dream even if it seems crazy because you can do anything with God on your side no one can stand in your way. The God of the universe is conspiring for your success.
