How I Work
Hi, I’m Tori and this is a short profile of how I work and the many ways I use my more productive hours during the day.
Location: Houston Texas.
Current gig: Art Studio teacher and assistant
Current mobile device: LG Tribute 5
Current computer: Lenovo Idea Pad
One word that best describes how you work: Persistent
What apps/software/tools can’t you live without?
Photoshop, Word, Pinterest, Youtube, Spotify, and my Bible app are the ones I use on a daily basis.
What’s your workspace like?
I have always done most of my work sitting on my bed or on the floor of my room because I was homeschooled. I also move around too much to sit in most chairs for long periods of time. Unless it’s some sort of art piece that requires a flat surface.
What’s your best time-saving trick?
Getting the hard stuff done first while I am still focused and able to work super affectingly.
What’s your favorite to-do list manager?
I’m more of a simple pen and paper person.
Besides your phone and computer, what gadget can’t you live without?
Does a musical instrument count? Normally the easiest to travel with is my Ukulele.
What everyday thing are you better at than anyone else?
Keeping the energy around me positive and making people laugh.
What are you currently reading?
Elanor & Park by Rainbow Rowel, Niche Down by Christopher Lochhead and Heather Clancy, Tom Jackson’s Live Music Method by Tom Jackson, and the Last Safe Investment by Bryan Franklin and Michael Ellsberg.
What do you listen to while you work?
I listen to just about any kind of music. Besides rap or screamo music. If I really need to focus, I’ll listen to Lindsey Sterling or some K-pop. Songs without lyrics or at least songs without lyrics I can understand.
Are you more of an introvert or an extrovert?
I am actually an ambivert, meaning both. I love people and am an outgoing person most of the time. But the way to tell if you are an Introvert or an Extrovert is by which one you get energy from. I can be around people for around 4 or 5 days before I need my alone time to process and recharge. If we hung out you would never guess that about me. But I also get way too bored on my own if I am alone for more than a couple of days.
What’s your sleep routine like?
I am a night owl. So I don’t normally feel tired until late at night I also prefer to take my time getting up in the mornings. Honestly, a lot of that is due to the fact that when I wake up in the mornings especially if it’s early I feel physically sick. Because of that, I am not normally very productive until around 10 am.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
Be yourself and the world will adjust. Because the people who matter won’t mind and the people who mind don’t matter.
Is there anything else you’d like to add?
Life is too short to not take risks so smile at strangers, say hi to that person you normally don’t, take that first step or you may find you regret not.
