Little Reminders
If you know me at all you have probably heard me say that words are powerful. I mean I wrote an entire book about it so you could say I am pretty opinionated on the subject.
Because of this fact for a very long time, I would pin quotes or sayings that stood out to me on my walls. I put Bible verses, success quotes and song lyrics up. Most of these were placed onto sticky notes and stuck to the wall haphazardly. As you can imagine they didn’t last very long even when I used sticky tack simply because they are not made to last for a long time.
In the process of moving, I am rethinking my wall decorations. Today I decided I wanted to put some quotes up on my walls. My first thought was that I should paint or draw some pictures to hang. I love to create works of art but when it comes to quotes it never really ends up how I want it to and for the amount of time it takes I was not willing to use my energy on that at the moment. I revisited the sticky note idea and even thought maybe a cork board that I could thumbtack notes to would work. This, in theory, is not a bad one but I wanted to put quotes up right then and I didn’t have a cork board readily available. My last solution was dry erase. I have a set of dry erase markers that are all the colors of the rainbow. while I was at camp I used them to write on my mirror in the staff house. I tried this here but it didn’t look very good because of the angle the mirror is facing. But I found out that we had an old whiteboard in the garage so I went and retrieved it.
I believe writing encouraging notes and quotes to yourself and to other people can be a really great reminder of what you are striving for and who you want to become. It can also help if you are struggling with self-confidence. Just write things like I am Beautiful, I am loved, perfection is boring on your mirror. Then read them aloud every morning even if you don’t feel like it’s true that day. These are the perfect little reminders for anyone. My mom writes her goals on the mirror so she sees them every single day. I encourage you to try this simple little step anytime you hear a great quote or think of something that is motivating. It can be a great little reminder!
