My Story

My Story – Color Outside The Lines

Let me tell you the story of a girl born and raised in South Texas. Yours Truly.

I am an artist in every sense of the word. Imagination and creativity are practically in my blood, music, art, photography, film, and writing.

When I was a little kid I loved to draw. To me, nothing was finished until I drew on it. I colored in picture books, on walls, furniture, myself, even on other art. Half the time I would color outside the lines or just draw my own lines altogether on coloring pages. Needless to say, I got myself into lots of trouble as a child for such mischief. But couldn’t help myself creating was practically a need.

My entire life I grew up homeschooled. This gave me the freedom to spend most of my time using my imagination in different ways. I wrote stories, drew art for those stories. I spent hours creating art using anything and everything I could find in the house and if I needed a material and it wasn’t in the house I’d either make something work or I’d go buy what I needed with my own money. Because of that creativity as a child, I recently wrote, illustrated, and published my own book “The Power Of Words For Teens” on Amazon.

I was also the kid who if you were to ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up my answer would change depending on the day of the week. But one that always stuck with me was being a singer. I remember there was this big old wooden table in my room. I used to turn on my old CD player. I would stand on the table like a little stage, singing and dancing to my Hannah Montana CD. I’d ask my brother to sit on the top bunk and shine a flashlight on me like a spotlight man.

When I was 15 I began guitar lessons and realized the only thing stopping me from reaching my childhood dream was my level of commitment. If it’s God wants for my life all I have to do is follow him and where he leads me because I know he’ll open the doors needed in his time.

I found out in my senior year of high school that in order to be happy I needed goals and to be working towards something.

One goal I began working towards that same year was becoming apart of Praxis. The moment the idea of not going became a legitimate thought was while listening to an audiobook by Grant Cardone a sales expert and entrepreneur. It didn’t hurt that my mom is still paying off her student loans from college 30 years later. But the idea of pausing my dreams for 4 years of studying so I can pass one test after another just didn’t sound appealing to me. The reason to go to college is to get a good education so you can go get a good job. But if that’s the case why do so many college graduates end up flipping burgers instead of the industry they studied? The statistics were not in college’s favor and I couldn’t rationalize going into debt over a piece of paper just because it’s what you do.

It’s easy to assume I’m not going to college because of laziness. Actually, for me, it’s the opposite. I’m not going to college because I’d rather use my time to kick butt right now while everyone else my age is in school. The dreams I have don’t need a degree and don’t need to be paused to get one.

Praxis is an out of the lines education and is the perfect choice for a girl who has always colored outside of the lines on purpose.

My life goal is to be a successful singer, speaker, and author. I want to travel the world sharing hope and the message that you were made to be unique! That your life matters and no matter how you feel or who you are, you’re never alone!

As J.R.R. Tolkien wrote,

“I’m going on an adventure!”
